Firing Coal

By Dennis M. Mitchell, QEP, CPA

So Mr. Obama has finally made the definitive move against carbon beginning with the full assault to achieve the demise of coal as he had promised in his first presidential campaign. By political fiat, he has sent the coal industry a pink slip and has fired the greatest economic advantage this country once had. He has attacked carbon on a political basis because the science never did support anything resembling the assertions chanted by him or the radicalized EPA. Keep a copy of this article because it will be the prophecy that should have been noticed but was ignored no matter how many people wrote essentially the same thing year after year.

Remember, these are exactly the same kind of controlling zealots who didn’t want you to have cheap, safe nuclear power and literally forced the fossil fuel market to bloom for decades. These are the same zealots of delusion and illusion that proclaimed neither economics nor fundamental physics matter when it comes to solar and wind. They were able to ignore both the actual long term costs and the massive problem of energy storage and distribution that these alternative energy forms will never be able to overcome so long as the first and second law of thermodynamics is reality. In fantasyland, large scale solar and wind work well. The facts have proven otherwise over the last 40 years and oh so many billions of dollars wasted directly and indirectly. Our national competitiveness and security were squandered as collateral damage to zealotry of control, control, control..

As the coal fired power plants are forced out of business, guess where they will be the very last to fall to the sword of the pop-culture science? Just look to the pattern used in reducing GM dealerships when these zealots were doing the smoke and mirror saving of the (entire?) auto industry. Politics ran that gambit and the republican owned dealerships were decimated, leaving a very plumb market for the loyal democrat owned dealerships. So, how different do you think the process will be as coal fired plants are locked and shuttered? Could you wonder if Washington D.C. will be the last place where efficient and inexpensive coal fired and/or nuclear generation will succumb? You bet your bippy that’s how it will play out. Those elitists are not about to suffer higher energy costs or unreliable energy supplies. You can count on these guys once again making the little people suffer while they cavort in grand style. Name any blue state capital or bastion of democratic voters such as New York City or Chicago. They will enjoy the last of the smart energy and the rest of the nation will be forced into servitude. Why is that likely? Because the targeted regional economies will be so drastically crippled that competitive activities will be thwarted. These regions forced into the absurdities of so-called alternative energy simply will not be able to remain in the markets competitively. Poverty will be willfully assigned to any hint of opposition. . It’s more than a little ironic that the very zealots who are dismantling efficient energy production will be enjoying safe, clean conventional power generation to the bitter end. But, that’s just what the zealots want.

The driving force for radical Islam, for any dictator, the old KKK and for the liberal progressive philosophy and any other destructive mode is exactly the same. Individuals must be striped of any power, ownership and autonomy of choice. The “ I’m in charge of you generation” is deadly when it comes to meeting their selfish goals. The collective elite will make all of life’s decisions and the individual is to be , just as George Orwell novels predicted, treated as something to be despised and rigidly controlled. Americans used to be free citizens. Now we have become subjects of the new entitled royalty.
