Colorado
Update on High Park Fire

LAW USA Volunteer Field Reporter Ken Keil

Took another ride up to see the fire between 6 and 7 pm. this eve. The titles on the photos explain the locations.

Mostly sunny day - however Fort Collins looked like a thunderstorm was approaching. Temperature hit 99 in Loveland today w/ very low humidity. Worse yet we had approximate 20 mph winds in Loveland. When I was above Horsetooth Reservoir, the winds were gusting to at least 30 mph.

54,000+ acres destroyed as of Friday night. Dozens of planes and helicopters working the fire. 3rd worst fire in Colorado history based on acreage. Worst fire in history based on homes destroyed. As of Sat. eve, 181 homes destroyed. Only 20% contained.

Some are claiming this fire may not be put out until autumn.

Keep these people in your prayers. Many more rural homes are being evacuated.
