EPA: Scrubs web site of Gleick grants

Hello Everyone,

There seems to be no end to the Gleick Affair (or whatever you want to call it, "FakeGate?"). Yesterday, I identified the involvement of the National Center for Science Education and their director, Eugenie C. Scott, PhD. She had apparently been working closely with Peter Gleick to move her organization into propagandizing children about Global Warming. Gleick was looking for evidence that Heartland was preparing material to counter this propagandizing with funding from the fossil fuel industry. That is apparently what motivated Gleick's theft of papers from Heartland. All he found was a very small Heartland program that Scott here considers a diabolical threat to her well-funded efforts:

But the issue today is the complicity of the Federal government in covering up Gleick's funding through the EPA. Although many people will probably be surprised that a major government agency would involve itself in covering up their involvement in this affair, it comes as no surprise to those of us who have followed the EPA's descent into politics. It would be an understatement to say that the EPA no longer enjoys any credibility.
The information that the EPA deleted from its website showed that Peter Gleick had received large sums of money to support another example of "agenda-driven science" that is plaguing California: false claims that tiny amounts of smoke from diesel engines are causing premature deaths. UCLA professor of epidemiology Jim Enstrom and many others including me) pointed out last year how the "definitive" scientific report on this to the California Air Resources Board was a sham (or worse, a fraud). What did CARB do? They approved the report as written, ignoring all critical comments. Is it any surprise that CARB is closely allied with the EPA?
One of the frequent challenges to our critiques of all of this is that we see it too much as a "conspiracy" amongst those involved. What has been happening over the last twenty years involves individuals like Gleick doing all sorts of things that amount to scientific and perhaps criminal misconduct with help from organizations like NCSE, EPA, and CARB that enable and amplify the whole process. And the opposite is also true. There is clear coordination. Whether this amounts to 'conspiracy' is a topic for attorneys.
Yesterday, Dr. Roger Cohen and I speculated as to the process that climate alarmists will use to rehabilitate Peter Gleick and even turn him into a hero, as they have attempted to do with their other fallen heroes such as Michael Mann, Phil Jones, James Hansen, and others. The first part of this process is to make sure that no more damning evidence is uncovered.
Because of the vigilance of Steve Milloy, they were not successful at the EPA today.

Steve Milloy is a smart guy, he kept a pdf of the EPA grant info, and now it ain’t on the EPA website. imagine that. Here’s something to consider—could EPA have been complicit in the Gleick misconduct? Could they have known. I would be shocked to know that the Chicago White House gang might go after the Heartland gang. Incidentally there is another climate conference scheduled. Security is a problem—guess we’ll have to hire Vito and Tony to screen attendees. Our experience up to this point is nothing more than a few screamers who paid to attend.
